Over the past week or so, I've been studying on watching and being a watchman in Christ and I've delved more into that as it relates to prayer and intercession.
Here is the scripture I've been meditating on since last night , specifically verse 11:
10 But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the Lord , are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business: 11 And they burn unto the Lord every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the Lord our God; but ye have forsaken him. 12 And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the Lord God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.
2 Chronicles 13:10-12 KJV

In the Hebrew, sacrifice means to ascend (there's more to the definition, but no notes and I want to share it properly) and incense means what we think, a sweet smell, as of spices, but the root word means fumigation, as to drive out of a close space.
What I got from that is when we give the morning and evening sacrifices (prayer, see Ps. 5:3) we 1)ascend or go up into God's presence and when send everything that doesn't look like Him running, like fumigating for insects or rodents, we drive them out. Conversely, by not praying, we remain earthbound and those insects and rodents in our lives and around us (anger, bitterness, covetousness, dissatisfaction, lust, demonic oppression, etc.) have an opportunity to fester.
Also, verse 12 is the encouragement to intercessors (the trumpets speak to the prophetic) - God Himself is our captain!
So, as I am being convicted to go back to the old, good way (See Jer 6:16-17), l encourage you also to press in prayer.
