Don't Panic, It's Only A Test

This is what I've had to repeat to myself in the last few days, "it's only a test".  Wednesday night, I left Bible Study to go get my niece.  The next afternoon, we were to spend a few hours together - go have a nice lunch as congratulations for her making  honor roll, and just talk.  Well, on the way, we were discussing the nice time we were going to have, when we were hit by another car.  The impact sent the car spinning and our airbags deployed.  In those seconds following the crash, I was very calm.  I remember being surprised and thankful that I was ok.  I couldn't maintain that calm when I turned to see my niece bawling.  The rest of the evening is kind of blur to me now.  Part of me still can't believe it really happened and I know God protected us because of the fact that we emerged with nothing more than sore muscles and bruises.  But the aftermath has had me feeling a whole flood of emotions that's left me feeling unbalanced and grasping at my faith.

It has just reminded me that as much as we as people try, there are some things we just cannot control.  One of my worst fears was getting into an accident with my sister's children in the car.  Well, it happened.  And we came out ok.  And maybe that's the point of some things happening.  Maybe it's to show us our fear, and to show us that God can deliver us out of it.  There are things that follow an event can seem contrary to what you believe you heard, but it's important not to panic.  This is only a test.  God never stops being God and His promises remain.
