Deciding to Love

I am learning that love is a decision
It takes determination
It takes vision
Love means looking past the immediate
And seeing the completion
The maturity of a man

Love is much more perfect
The more we become like He who works perfection in us
He does that the more
We resist the lust -
Eyes, flesh, pride of life
I decide to love through the stressors of life

I'm determining to love through the pain
Even as you reject me
I'll decide to love again
And again I love as you hate the more
Heaping my love upon you like hot coals

And in loving,  I find my joy
Not in happenstance
Not in meaningless ploys

Because my source is one greater than me
The author of love
My God, Father, Savior, Spirit
Who delivered me
